Salary: main pay scale/ UPS with SEN allowance £2106 for those with National Award for SEN co-ordination or on successfully completing the National Award.
GEMS Didcot Primary Academy is popular, ambitious and successful multicultural primary school, with a nursery, that opened in September 2016. The school currently has 218 pupils (from nursery to Year 3) and will grow by 60 reception pupils a year until the school reaches maximum capacity of 420 in 2020. We are very proud of the school that we are creating and are looking to expand our team.
GEMS Learning Trust has been established to offer all children in our academies a first class education. It has high expectations of everyone in the school community and challenges children to succeed while supporting them every step of the way. Are you currently a SENCO or experienced class teacher with a passion for SEND who is looking for their next exciting leadership challenge?
GEMS Didcot Primary Academy needs an exceptional SENCO with a clear vision and a passion for working with children with special educational needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will have strategic responsibility for inclusion across the school. We are looking to appoint someone with experience of working with children with a range of additional needs and a clear knowledge of the SEND agenda.
The whole staff team is committed to providing high quality teaching and learning for all pupils and the post represents an ideal opportunity to work in a happy, friendly, positive environment.
You will hold the National SENCO qualification or be willing to complete this within the next 3 years. You will be able to effectively lead and manage and work closely with parents/carers and professionals.
Initially the SENCO post will be for 2 days of the week with the 3 remaining days spent covering PPA across the school. The post will gradually increase by one day per week and will also include Safeguarding duties from the second year. Within the first year the postholder will be supported by a Special Needs advisory teacher for ½ day per week. It is possible to apply as a part time post (2 days a week) but with the knowledge that this post will be expected to grow by a day a week a year.
