Pre Opening Ofsted Inspection
Under the Education and Skills Act 2008, an Ofsted pre-registration inspection is required to inform the Secretary of State's decision whether to register the institution as an independent school.
No new school is allowed to open unless it is completely ready to provide a high quality education in a safe environment. The DFE make sure that any conditions set out by Ofsted are met by the school in time for its opening.
First Ofsted Inspection
In most instances, Ofsted will not select new academies or Free schools for a first Section 5 inspection until 3 years have lapsed from their opening. The school should be inspected during 2018-19.
