Vacancies

We are looking for four Teaching Assistants to work within our fantastic school.

 

  • Two part time roles (to provide one to one support for a child in Year 1 and a child in Year 3).
  • Two full time roles in Early Years.
  • One of the roles will include breakfast club duties.

 

All of these posts will start September 2018. Please specify on your application form which post you are applying for.

GEMS Didcot Primary School opened its doors for the first time in September 2016 with five classes from Nursery to Year 2. We currently have 220 children on roll and the school will be completely full in 2022 with 420 pupils plus the nursery.

GEMS Learning Trust is now looking for four Teaching Assistants to work within our school.

GEMS Learning Trust is a not-for-profit enterprise affiliated to the global network of GEMS schools. The salary will be based on the NJC scale starting at point 11 (£17,007 FTE). All posts are paid for 43.2 weeks which includes all inset days and 28 days annual leave (pro rata).

 

  • The hours for the part time posts are 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. The pro rata salary for both of these posts are £7,616.
  • The hours for the full time posts are 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The pro rata salary for both of these posts are £13,329.
  • One of the posts will include breakfast club duties. Please indicate on your application if you are interested in doing this. The pro rata salary for the breakfast club role is £1,904. The hours of work for this are 7.30am to 8.30am Monday to Friday.

The successful candidates will be:

 

  • Experienced in working with children preferably in a Teaching Assistant role.
  • Willing to work as part of a team and in partnership with the teacher.
  • Experienced in supporting pupils with a range of needs and able to demonstrate understanding towards them.  (For example: autism and learning difficulties).
  • Ideally have first-hand experiences of running interventions.

 

One to one support Teaching Assistants

We have two part time positions available. One is to support a child in our current Year 3 class who has additional physical needs. The second post is to support an SEN child in our current Year 1 class.

The successful candidates will be assigned to specific children and the posts will be available for as long as the children remain at the school and as long as the school receives the additional funding for these particular children. The post holders will move with the children as they progress through the school.

Both of these positions are part time and the hours of work are 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday (term time only which includes 5 inset days). Unfortunately the hours or work are not negotiable.

 

Early Years Teaching Assistants

We have two full time Early Years Teaching Assistant posts available.   

Both posts include half an hour lunchtime duty per day - supporting children at lunchtime, both inside and outside.

They are both full time posts and the hours of work are 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday (term time only which includes 5 inset days). Unfortunately, the hours of work are not negotiable.

 

Breakfast club

One of the teaching assistant posts will include breakfast club duties. Please indicate on your application if you wish to be considered for this.

You will join a small team of teaching assistants who run breakfast club. The club is open from 7.30am to 8.30am Monday to Friday and duties include welcoming children to the club, serving breakfast (cereal and toast), helping the children clear up, ensuring the children engage in meaningful play and escorting them to class for registration.
